Dear Family,
Congratulations on the Half Marathon! That's absolutely fantastic!!! If I do see Tannen I will be sure to laugh at him. And then congratulate him, because that really is an excellent run!
Thank you for answering all of my questions, I shall try to apply the answers. :D. Yep, I sincerely hope to be fluent in Swedish when I return, wouldn't that be absolutely fantastic!
Kay, first off, before I forget, DL # 932409415 and my Scripture Quote: Joshua 1:9. That is very definitely the one I want.
I cannot believe that tomorrow is my fifth Wednesday, I feel as though time is slipping through my fingers! We now have four investigators we teach a week. I've only taught three of them, we'll be teaching the fourth tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow! I also get to Host tomorrow! (You know show the new missionaries to their residence hall and classroom!) I am so excited, I also get to Host next week, which is awesome too! (I won't get to host Dallin since elders host elders and sisters host sisters but maybe someone in my district will host him, that'd be pretty awesome!)
Wish Dad luck for me... or he'll be reading this won't he... So GOOD LUCK Dad. You'll be in my prayers! (Lycka Till!!!)
Kay... So MTC adventure time. Except, I'm having a really hard time remembering what happened this past week. Things are sort of blurring together.
Ooh! Tuesday, after I wrote you, my district went to the temple. Guess who I ran into. (You'll never guess!!!) I ran into my 8th grade Orchestra teacher! Crazy right! And she remembered me! Even crazier... she was also the Orchestra teacher for Sister Bass (another of the girls in my district...) wait for it, it gets crazier... Sister Bass' Dad... was my eighth grade Science Teacher!!! AND... her little brother, was in my science class, and I KNOW him. Isn't that SO absolutely BIZARRE! I think it's crazy, it makes me laugh... Guess what else... Sister Bass' dad remembers me! It's all so very strange! And exciting. But yes, the point was it was great to see Sister Larson.
Oooh! Guess what else! I got a letter from Morgan (Hritz) (Although I'm sure that's what you assumed! Do I even know any other Morgans?) It was wonderful, I may have shrieked a little in happiness. I wrote her back of course. In colorful pens. So it was a very colorful letter.
It was sort of funny, and sort of horrible. Last night I nearly fell asleep writing in my journal... but then I woke up put everything away and what not... and then I couldn't fall back to sleep... It was very saddening. But one of the sisters asked me to tell a story and I made one up about butterflies. I'd like to share the inspiration for this story. There is a quote by... I don't know who but it goes something like this. " 'How does one become a butterfly?' She asked, "You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.'" Isn't that true though. It reminds me of Spencer W. Kimball's quote "Are you going to slip off into mediocrity or are you going to rise to the heights which your Heavenly Father has set for you. The decision is yours and yours only." Do we want to become what we are meant to become enough that we are willing to give up what we are now? Heavenly Father knows what we can become, and it is so much more than we can imagine for ourselves. But do we want it enough to change?
I'm super excited to write you next week... Because included in next weeks letter will be..... TRAVEL PLANS!!!! (Of course we still don't know whether we've all got our visas... but, yeah.)
Guess What! Me and some of the people in my district are going to audition to be a special musical number! (We aren't going to make it, if we were going to make it I don't think I'd try out. Imagine SINGING in front of ALL the missionaries! Eeek!... But at the same time... Wouldn't that be... SO much fun! As you can see I'm a little split on the matter...) We're going to sing the EFY Medley, but with the new "The Sisters of Zion" version. Have you heard it? The new one? It's quite nice. There's one line "We go forth enlisted with Helaman's Army" I absolutely love that part. :D (Especially because now that's SO real for me. Me and Dallin are enlisted together!!!)
Speaking of Dallin, you have a week! Isn't that SO exciting! Hopefully I'll see you! That'd be great wouldn't it! You're going to be a great missionary!!! I'm so excited for you! (I think I've told you that every email now... well, it's still true!)
Ah! Life is so wonderful, I don't really have anything big to tell you this week, it's been pretty normal as far as MTC experiences go. Did I tell you? The Sister who teaches the early morning exercise... She's like a month away from giving birth! How crazy is that? That, is dedication. Every now and then she'll stop in the middle of an exercise, "You guys keep going, I'm just having contractions." She's such a happy person and so fun and I'm very impressed by her dedication!
I learned how to say hello in Arabic! I don't know how it's spelled though it's something like "Maghdabagh". Supposedly there are a lot of people from the middle east who move to Sweden. Interesting isn't it?
You know what's fun to say "Jag vet inte!" It's just super fun to say, and I say it a lot because it means "I don't know!" :D Hehehe...
Dad, Mom, once again, I just want to thank you for reading the Book of Mormon as a family, and than letting us ask questions. It's... wonderful. Family Scripture Study is definitely an inspired idea. Plus it's lots of fun!
It's my teachers birthday this week. One of the Elders is going to make him a pinata... That will be very interesting, I'll tell you about that next week. Since I don't really know how THAT is going to turn out. Interesting is definitely one word for it though.
I just feel like this week is going to be a good week!
Ooh! It was really funny. And sort of embarrassing. We had Missionary Portal time and someone showed me a picture of our teacher and one of his old companions. And his old companion really REALLY looked like someone I knew (I knew it wasn't really, but it Looked a lot like him.) But... I couldn't remember his name. And it was really frustrating me, because I wanted to remember the name, especially because the younger sister of the person that the picture looked like was one of my good friends back years and years ago. But for AGES I couldn't remember his name. So 15 minutes later we were just talking and then BOOM. Name popped into my head. I literally shrieked and clapped my hands for joy. I felt like an idiot. My companion and the other sisters Laughed and Laughed (It was really funny) But... I remembered the name. Which was important, even though it wasn't. But, the moral of this story... I am very VERY easily excited by really silly things.
Oh, Dad, I feel horrible for asking this question... but Where is the promise (And I feel like it's in several places) where a prophet promises that we can see the Savior, or whatever else we truly desire (so long as it is righteous) to see... Where is that? I KNOW I should know that...
I really feel as though I don't have all that much to say today. Except I also feel as though I should have loads to say, because So much happens every week. Ah, well.
Oh, guess who I saw in the MTC this week! Elder Evan Kaiser... and.... SISTER JESSICA WILLIAMS!!!! Isn't that so exciting! They're both leaving before me (even though both got here before me...), but it was super exciting. Particularly to see Jessica. I haven't seen her in YEARS! Ah... Life is wonderful. Jessica is going to California... I don't remember where Elder Kaiser is going. Whoops.
Oh... Random, someone found bubbles and brought them into the classroom, so we had a five minute break before class started and then... BUBBLES! It was very interesting to see a group of missionaries pretty much turn into children. Very interesting. (Don't worry! We ARE very diligent in the classroom!)
Ooh! I bought sticky notes, and now all the space around my desk is full of prophet quotes and scripture quotes and inspirational quotes... It's... Very Kjanelaesque. :D I love it. Do you know how much fun I have with Prophet Quotes? Lots of it.
Do you know how much fun you can have singing Hymns and Primary songs... Lots of it.
I'm really happy. Just really really happy.
You know what, I'm starting to get really used to wearing skirts. I'm even getting close to really enjoying it. Now there are times when I enjoy it and times when I... don't as much.
Oh! I still don't know for sure... But I MIGHT be able to go and sing for the General Relief Society Conference... Wouldn't that be SO exciting! I hope I hope I hope! Super super super hope!
Oh my, guess what, so The Danish Missionaries were supposed to leave on Monday... But only one of them got their Visa!!! Isn't that so sad! (Hope hope hope hope hope)
Oh, we listened to an absolutely excellent talk that Elder Bednar gave. It was about Becoming a Missionary. Not every one that goes on missions becomes a missionary, they just go on missions. I will Not be one of those missionaries. I am Going to become a missionary.
I feel as though a lot of this week, for me at least, was focused on becoming. The butterfly quote, Elder Bednar's talk, some of the scriptures I read, and then a song popped into my head, "Clay in His Hands." (Beautiful song by Jesse Clark if you want to listen to it) The Lord knows what I can become... But I have to decide that I want that. "You must want to fly so much you are willing to give up being a caterpillar."
Anyway. I feel as though I'm sort of rambling now. Lie. I feel as though every letter I write I'm sort of rambling. I need to work on that if I want to be a writer.
Love,
Sister Kjanela Fawcett
